Ronald L. Baddorf LAc.

Ron is a graduate of the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture, with a Master’s degree in acupuncture.  He utilizes acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, tuina, herbs, and lifestyle/nutritional counseling to assist patients in healing their diseases. Ron is licensed in Arizona and Pennsylvania, and is a Diplomat in Acupuncture certified by the
NCCAOM.

Chinese medicine focuses in helping a person’s body bring itself back into balance. Ron believes in the old Chinese saying “If there is no free flow there is pain.  If there is free flow there is no pain”.  Clearing blockages and harmonizing the flow of blood and Qi (pronounced “chee”) allows the body to function as it was so miraculously designed. The body is the only thing that can heal the body.  All we can do is give the body the tools it needs to heal itself.

A typical acupuncture session will include questions about the patient’s health, habits, sleep, diet, and emotional state.  The tongue is looked at, the pulses felt, and a diagnosis is made.  Once a diagnosis is made, a treatment plan is developed, and treatment methods and acupuncture points are selected.  A treatment may consist of the insertion of very fine needles into specific points of the body.  These needles help to balance the flow of blood and Qi in the body.  Additional modalities may be used such as cupping, gu sha (the scraping of an area with a tool), tuina (Chinese body work), and or moxibustion (the burning of Chinese Mugwort AKA Artemisia vulgaris).  Moxibustion is used to warm an area to stimulate the smooth flow of blood and Qi.  Follow up herbal therapy may be indicated in certain cases.

While many acute problems may be remedied in one or two visits, chronic problems may take longer to address the under lying cause.
